Europe Day 8: Thursday, May 17 (Pisa & Florence)
5:45 am Woke up early again to curl my hair.
We had breakfast and anchored in Florence, which I found to be my favorite city in Italy later on. Both Rome and Florence were very clean and not too busy. Our tour guide Lila was much more chill than Maria and Corinna from Rome. Our first visit, which originally was not on the itinerary, was the Leaning Tower of of Pisa, one of the most iconic places I've ever dreamt of visiting. I bought a pin of the tower and later, when we visited a square of beautiful churches, I bought a postcard with Macey.
In Firenze (Florence), we passed colorful apartments alongside the River Arno. We had lunch at a fancy pizzeria—I really wanted ravioli but it was 9 Euros😪. After lunch, Hannah, Lauren, Maycee, and I went to the leather market, where I haggled for a belt for Dad. Beside the market, we saw the Lucky Boar. There's only 3 in the world, and 1 is right in Downtown Greenville!
I loved our tour guide because she didn't care if we wandered off—she gave us a meeting place just in case. We saw Gheberti's doors which I learned about in Art History. We had so much free time that it was a little too much, lol—I wish some carried over to Rome yesterday or Cannes. There were so many leather shops! I really wanted a leather purse but it was 50 Euros, even after bartering.
Before going back to the ship, Lila took us to a final sight—an overlook of Firenze.
For dinner, we ate at Taste, which had the same menu as the Manhattan. I had salmon again with salad, and it was amazing! I want to go back and eat it a third time, haha. The lava cake wasn't as good, probably because I'm just getting used to the food on the ship.
Afterwards, we played Dark Stories again in Yani's room, but I was so tired, I went to my room and tidied up. Tonight, our boat is headed towards France!
